Labiaplasty / Labial Trim
Labial Reduction Surgery / Labial Trim
Although there is a wide normal variation in size and shape of the inner labia, it is not uncommon for a woman to feel dissatisfied with her labia minora (inner lips of the vagina), especially if they are particularly long or asymmetrical. This can be embarrassing, uncomfortable and can even lead to sexual dissatisfaction or difficulty. Women with exceptionally long or unequal lengths of the labia minora can have them aesthetically reshaped.
Labial reduction surgery / Labiaplasty is advised for women who have enlarged or irregular labia. This procedure reduces the size of inner labia (the inner genital lips).
Labial reduction surgery is done under local or general anaesthetic. Labiaplasty takes about 30 minutes and patients are discharged on the same day. The stitches used are dissolving, and aside from some antibiotic gel that needs to be applied for a few days, no special post op care is needed. Abstinence from sexual activity for 6 weeks post op is advised, to allow the tissues adequate time to heal completely.
