Cheek Dimples

Cheek Dimples

Natural cheek dimples are caused by a slight genetic birth defect, causing a small bit of skin to stick to the connective tissue beneath. Dimple creation surgery mimics natural dimples by attaching a small amount of skin to connective tissue. An absorbable suture passes through the skin to meet the connective tissue underneath. Initially, the dimples will be visible all the time but once the stitch dissolves the dimples will be visible only when smiling.
